Perimeters

"From cradle to grave": from the extraction of raw material to its final processing.
For paper, a Life Cycle Assessment includes 8 principal measurement areas:

  • Timber harvesting
  • Production and transportation of pulp
  • Production and transportation of other raw materials
  • Paper manufacture
  • Transportation of paper to the printer
  • Printing
  • Transportation of printed pieces to users
  • The end of the paper’s lifecycle (storage, incineration, disposal, recycling)

Indicators

There are 13 indicators for the impact on the environment that are generally used in ACV and that guide our operations:

  • Energy
    Total primary energy consumption
  • Air
    Greenhouse gas emissions
Emission of greenhouse gases of fossil origin and non-renewable biomass
    Acidifying gas emissions
  • Water
    Water pumping
    Water consumption
The discharge of matter in suspension (MES)
    Discharge contributing to water eutrophication
    Chemical oxygen demand (COD)
    Absorbable halogenated organic compounds (AOX)
  • Earth
    Exhaustion of non-renewable resources
    Quantity of non-renewable wood
    Production of ultimate waste
