A Tribute to Indopaque in Italy

The new edition of the Jerusalem Bible printed on our bible paper Indopaque 25g.

At a solemn ceremony held on January 30th in Bologna, Italy, the Italian President Giorgio Napolitano received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa,   and was also presented with the new edition of the Jerusalem Bible printed on Indopaque. He then went to the Institute of Religious Studies where he was able to compare this modern version with the ancient original Marco Polo Bible and observe the differences in format and quality of these two important books, in the company of Director and Professor Alberto Melloni.

Published by Dehoniane Bologna, this special edition of the Jerusalem Bible was printed by Rotolongo on a Manroland Rotoman. The paper chosen was our 25 gram bible paper, Indopaque, one of the thinnest, most lightweight papers in the world with the 22 grams, and the most lightweight ever to be used in this type of production. The publisher's aim was to reduce paper grammage of this voluminous 3,072-page book to a minimum: a challenge ably taken up by Rotolongo and Bolloré Thin Papers as well as the publisher Dehoniane Bologna, who all worked hard in this project of great importance to them.

Indopaque provided an ideal response to the stringent quality requirements for upmarket religious works. Available in a natural tint, it has a silky handle and excellent opacity.

Rotolongo is specialised in printing on low grammage paper, especially 28 grams.
